  • Mike White: Joining Bills' practice squad

White signed with Buffalo's practice squad Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The Bills will be White's third team affiliation in as many years, but he's staying inside the AFC East. He could be elevated from the practice squad for Week 1 if Mitch Trubisky (knee) is unavailable.

  • Mike White: Let go by Miami

The Dolphins released White on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. White had been competing with Skylar Thompson for the No. 2 quarterback role throughout camp, and the move signals that Thompson has emerged on top in that job battle. The 29-year-old White completed just 20 of 43 pass attempts for 179 yards without a touchdown or interception during the preseason, but he's had enough in-game NFL experience with some success -- specifically in 2021 and 2022 with the Jets -- to be an appealing option for teams needing quarterback depth.

  • Dolphins' Mike White: Cap decisions coming in offseason

White completed five of six pass attempts for 74 yards with one touchdown and one interception across six regular-season appearances in 2023. He also rushed eight times for a loss of nine yards. White wasn't called upon to do much as Miami's backup behind Tua Tagovailoa, mostly entering games late in the fourth quarter in contests where the Dolphins were simply running out a large lead. He remains under contract with Miami for the 2024 campaign, but the team has a potential 'out' for only a $1.7 million cap hit, whereas White will otherwise cost a significant $5.2 million against the cap. It wouldn't be surprising to see both sides agree on a restructure in the coming months, if there's mutual interest in remaining together.

  • Dolphins' Mike White: In concussion protocol

The Dolphins have placed White in the concussion protocol after noticing irregularities in his behavior during Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. Miami planned for White to split reps with Skylar Thompson prior to him suffering a concussion, per Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post. The top backup to Tua Tagovailoa will now be unavailable until he's able to fully clear the league's five-step protocol for brain injuries. As a result, the team plans to re-sign James Blackmon ahead of this weekend's preseason finale versus Jacksonville, Wolfe reports.

  • Dolphins' Mike White: Struggling this spring

White has struggled during spring practices and will need to compete with Skylar Thompson for the second spot on the depth chart, according to Daniel Oyefusi of The Miami Herald. A two-year, $8 million contract makes White the favorite for Miami's backup QB job, but it apparently isn't a sure thing. The catch here is that White is new to coach Mike McDaniel's system, while Thompson had all of last year to learn it. White still has training camp and the preseason ahead of him to prove he's the best option for Miami under center in the event of a Tua Tagovailoa injury.

  • Dolphins' Mike White: To sign with Dolphins

White (ribs) agreed to terms with the Dolphins on a two-year contract Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. White gives the Dolphins an experienced backup behind Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) with Teddy Bridgewater a free agent. White, who turns 28 later this month, made seven starts for the Jets over the last two seasons, completing 62.2 percent of his passes at 7.0 yards per attempt with eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

  • Jets' Mike White: Not in line to start Sunday

The Jets officially list White (ribs) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, but head coach Robert Saleh previously said Friday that the quarterback won't play. Per Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, Joe Flacco is in line to start the Jets' season finale, with Zach Wilson slated to serve as the team's No. 2 quarterback. After practicing fully Wednesday, White was limited in practice on Thursday, and now he's in line to sit out after aggravating his rib injury last Sunday against the Seahawks. White revealed Friday that he's been dealing with five fractured ribs since initially suffering the injury Week 14 in Buffalo.

  • Jets' Mike White: Dealing with five fractured ribs

White, who won't play in Sunday's game in Miami, revealed Friday that he's been playing through five fractured ribs, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. White was noticeably hampered when he tried to play through the injury in the Week 17 loss to Seattle, even after sitting out the Jets' previous two games. The 27-year-old quarterback will be a free agent at the end of the season, and it's possible the Jets view White as a candidate for the starting job in 2023. He finishes the 2022 season with 1,192 passing yards and a 3:4 TD:INT across four starts.

  • Jets' Mike White: QBs to Start

It's good to have White back in Week 17 after he missed the past two games with a rib injury. The Jets need him after Zach Wilson has struggled, and Fantasy managers can use White as a low-end starter in all leagues. While he only has one game above 16 Fantasy points in his three starts, he has averaged 317.3 passing yards per game over that span. And the Seahawks have allowed five of the past seven opposing quarterbacks to score at least 20 Fantasy points. White is auditioning for a starting job in 2023 since he'll be a free agent this offseason, and I expect him to play well over his final two games this year.

  • Jets' Mike White: Fully healthy for Week 17 start

White (ribs) logged full practices Wednesday and Thursday, and Rich Cimini of ESPN reports that White will start against the Seahawks on Sunday. White had the Jets offense looking as good as it had all year in his three starts, but he missed the last two games due to a fractured rib. After receiving medical clearance Monday, White has been practicing without limitations, and he'll be under center as the Jets try to make a late playoff push. Joe Flacco will back White up in Seattle, as Zach Wilson has been benched for the second time this season.

  • Jets' Mike White: Set to have ribs checked out Monday

White is slated to undergo scans on his injured ribs Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Per Rapoport, the hope that is White -- who is reportedly dealing with fractured ribs -- is cleared for contact ahead of the Jets' Week 17 game against the Seahawks. If so, he'd presumably be in line to start at QB for New York a week from Sunday, but if White isn't cleared by then, Zach Wilson would be a candidate to get the nod versus Seattle.

  • Jets' Mike White: Limited on practice estimate

White (ribs) was listed as limited on Monday's practice estimate, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. At this stage, White, who is dealing with fractured ribs, still is being evaluated by doctors, which clouds his status in advance of Thursday night's game against the Jaguars. For now, coach Robert Saleh hasn't confirmed the team's starting QB for the contest, but on a short week, White could be hard-pressed to be cleared. If so, Zach Wilson would be in line to draw the assignment Week 16.

  • Jets' Mike White: Won't play Sunday

White (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. The 27-year-old was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday and planned to play through the rib injury this weekend, but he won't be cleared for contact in time for Sunday, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Zach Wilson will retake the reins under center for the Jets with White sidelined. New York has a quick turnaround Week 16 with a matchup against Jacksonville next Thursday, and Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site reports White should have a chance to play in that contest.

  • Jets' Mike White: QBs to Start

White is expected to play in Week 15 despite hurting his ribs in Week 14 at Buffalo. He should have the chance for a big game against the Lions, who are No. 1 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. Four of the past five opposing quarterbacks against Detroit have scored at least 26 Fantasy points, and White should rebound from some poor outings the past two games against the Vikings and Bills when he combined for just 26 Fantasy points. But we know his upside since he scored 30 Fantasy points against Chicago in Week 12, which was his last home game, and hopefully he can replicate that level of production this week.

  • Jets' Mike White: Deemed day-to-day

Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Monday that White (ribs) is considered day-to-day, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports. White went to the hospital as a precaution after Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Bills, but he flew back to New York City with the team. The starting quarterback's practice participation will be worth monitoring throughout the week, but White tentatively is on track to suit up Sunday against the Lions.

  • Jets' Mike White: Joins teammates for trip home

White traveled back to New York on the team plane after injuring his ribs during Sunday's 20-12 loss in Buffalo, Kimberley A. Martin of ESPN reports. White twice handed the offense over to Joe Flacco while being evaluated for a rib issue, but he was able to return both times and finish out the contest, completing 27 of 44 passes for 268 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. Afterward, Jets medical personnel sent White to a Buffalo-area hospital to be examined further, but those tests appear to have checked out OK as well. In any case, White's status will be one to watch as the week goes on to get a sense of his potential to keep playing through the pain next Sunday against the Lions.

  • Jets' Mike White: QBs to Sit

In 2021, White had a huge game in his first start against the Bengals in Week 8 with 32 Fantasy points. He then scored nine Fantasy points in his second start at Indianapolis, although he was injured and didn't finish the game. His third start was against the Bills, who exposed him with four interceptions, holding him to just two Fantasy points. Is history about to repeat itself? Jones had 30 Fantasy points in his first start this season against the Bears in Week 12. He followed that up with 16 points at Minnesota in Week 13. And now he gets the Bills in his third start, and Buffalo is allowing an average of just 14.8 Fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Only three quarterbacks have scored more than 19 Fantasy points against the Bills, and White should be limited to Superflex and two-quarterback leagues this week.

  • Jets' Mike White: Adds/Streamers (QB Preview)

White should throw the ball at least 40 times against the Bills, which gives him an excellent chance of producing like a high-end QB2. While the matchup against the bills is a negative, they haven't been nearly as tough on quarterbacks lately as they were early in the year.

  • Jets' Mike White: Week 14 Waiver Priority List

It's not a great week for White at Buffalo, but he does have 684 passing yards, four total touchdowns and two interceptions in two starts for an average of 23 Fantasy points against the Bears and Vikings. And then he gets Detroit, Jacksonville and Seattle in his next three starts for the Fantasy playoffs. White is worth adding for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Jets' Mike White: Three TDs in impressive debut

White completed 22 of 28 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 31-10 win over the Bears. He added two rushing yards on three attempts. Called upon to make his season debut with Zach Wilson benched, White immediately produced the Jets' first opening possession touchdown drive of the season. He completed six of seven passes for 69 yards on the drive, capped by an eight-yard touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson. In the second quarter, White connected with Elijah Moore for a 42-yard gain leading to a botched field-goal attempt, then found Wilson for a 54-yard touchdown to take a 14-10 lead. White finished the first half with 16 completions on 20 attempts for 235 yards and two touchdowns as the Jets took a 17-10 lead into the locker room. The dominant Jets defense took over after that, though White chipped in with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Moore. It's safe to say White can be treated as New York's starter until further notice, so expect to see him under center against the Vikings in Week 13.
